We're halfway through Marvel's Secret Invasion and the stakes are only getting higher.

Along with a big character death in episode 3, we learn more about Nick Fury's (Samuel L Jackson) wife Priscilla - or should we say Varra?

But not all is as it seems with the Skrull character, who is clearly in touch with her husband's enemy, Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir).

Here's everything you need to know about Nick Fury's wife.

Secret Invasion: Who is Nick Fury's wife Priscilla, aka Varra?

Despite Fury being one of the most long-running characters in the MCU, we'd never previously seen his wife. We knew she existed thanks to a couple of mentions over the years, but the ending of Secret Invasion episode 2 is the first time we've ever seen the woman Fury knows as Priscilla, played by Charlayne Woodard.

The episode cuts from the exterior of a house to a Skrull chopping up a cucumber, with Fury approaching the door.

As Fury returns home after being sacked by his once-friend James 'Rhodey' Rhodes (Don Cheadle) and still grappling with the loss of Maria Hill, he hears music playing and sees his wife in the kitchen in her human form.

She says, "Aren't you forgetting something?" as he returns to the hallway and puts on his wedding ring.

"Better?" he asks, with Priscilla responding, "Almost," and giving him a kiss.

In episode 3, it's confirmed that Fury's wife is actually Varra, the Skrull who accompanied Gravik to Earth.

But the final scenes of the episode suggest she's not to be trusted. After a row with Fury, in which she confronts him for his absence over the past few years, she retrieves a gun from a safety deposit box.

She then speaks on the phone, demanding to talk to Gravik, despite previously having assured her husband she wasn't in touch with him.

Episode 3 seems to confirm that Fury does know his wife is a Skrull - and that's why the war is so personal to him.

Speaking about episode 2, director Ali Selim previously told Deadline: "“In the script, he knows. And when we shot it, it was interesting that maybe he didn’t know. We ultimately edited it in a way that made people feel like, ‘I wonder if he knows or not.'

"I can’t tease anything forward about his wife. The conversation in the lobby after the premiere the other night was, ‘Does he know she’s a Skrull? Or does he not?’ And I think either way works.”

How many Skrulls are on Earth and how powerful are they?

Gravik's (Kingsley Ben-Adir) plan continues to unfold in episode 2 as it becomes clear just how powerful the Skrulls are. Contrary to Fury's belief, there's more than just a few Skrulls knocking about on Earth.

A tense conversation with Talos sees him reveal that all of the Skrulls who fled are on Earth. Fury responds: "You're telling me there's a million Skrulls walking amongst us right now?!"

As Fury accuses Talos of lying to him, he hits back: "We were being hunted across the universe. I had two choices. I could let my people be annihilated or summon them here to Earth. What would you have done?"

While Fury's left reeling from the revelation, Gravik meets with a group of world leaders to discuss the Moscow bombing. It's soon revealed that every single one of them is a Skrull - and all but one of them elect him as Skrull General, leaving him with "unchecked" power. What could go wrong?
